Houston Timber Co. is a locally owned woodworking company developing made to order raised garden beds, planters, benches, and custom outdoor products for the Houston area.
Why the company exists
Outdoor products should fit the actual space, arrive with a clear scope, and be sold with straight answers.
Standard sizes provide a starting point. Custom dimensions may be reviewed when the space requires something different.
The product, dimensions, quantity, delivery, price, and expected timing should be understood first.
The company is new. The website does not claim years, projects, partnerships, or customer totals that do not exist.

What the workshop does not take on.
A defined product line means a defined boundary, and it is more useful to publish the boundary than to let a request discover it. Houston Timber Co. is not currently quoting structural or permitted work such as decks, pergolas or fencing, or anything that attaches to or supports a building. Indoor cabinetry is also outside the current scope.
That is a capacity decision rather than a permanent one. The company is new and has a defined shop capacity, and taking on work that stretches it would cost the quality and the lead times on the products it does build. Where a request is close to something we do make, we will say which one and why it might serve you better.

Pricing
Why everything is quoted rather than listed.
Every product is quote based at the moment, and the reason is simple: the numbers have not been measured yet. Material, labor, delivery, assembly and overhead are being calculated before any starting price is published, because a price put up early and corrected later is worse than no price at all.
A quote is built around the dimensions, quantity, delivery location and written scope of an actual request rather than from a category. The product, dimensions, quantity, delivery, price and expected timing should all be understood before production starts, and the written scope is where that is recorded.

Transparency
Saying what has not been decided yet.
A number of things on this site are marked as not final: finish options, the exact construction specification, prices, warranty terms, returns terms and lead times. Where a specification or a policy has not been finalized, the site says so instead of presenting a placeholder as settled.
That is a deliberate choice and not an oversight. A finish listed before it has been tested, or a warranty written before anyone has decided what it covers, is a commitment made to sound complete rather than to be kept. We would rather a customer read “still being finalized” and ask, than read a confident sentence that turns out not to hold.
No date is promised for any of it, because a date would be the same kind of guess. Each item is published when it has been measured, tested or decided, and the product care and warranty page shows exactly which sections are still open.
Local
Why building for Houston is its own problem.
Houston is hard on outdoor timber. Long humid summers, heavy rainfall, intense sun and clay soil that holds water all shorten the life of wood left unmanaged, and a product designed for a drier climate will not behave the same way here.
That is why cedar is the starting material while the construction specification is tested, why drainage and placement get as much attention as the build itself, and why no service life is promised: how long an outdoor piece lasts depends on the material, the drainage, the soil contact, the sun exposure, the finish and the care it gets.
Products are planned to be built in the Houston area rather than bought in as finished retail inventory, and delivered across the communities listed on the delivery areas page. There is no showroom and no storefront to visit, and collection is by prior arrangement only: the company is a workshop developing its first production models, and it will say so until that changes.
